报告人Dr. Dengke Ma is an associate professor of the Cardiovascular Research Institute, Department of Physiology, UC San Francisco (UCSF). He received his PhD at the Johns Hopkins University for Neuroscience in Baltimore and conducted his postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. In UCSF, he leads a research group interested in studying how genes and genetic pathways control life processes in dormancy, homeostatic responses and physiological resilience to changes in temperature and oxygen levels. He uses both classic model organisms (C. elegans) and unconventional models (e.g. neural stem/progenitor cells from hibernating Arctic ground squirrels) to address fundamental questions of biomedical importance relevant for the fields of ischemic, metabolic and neurological disorders. Dr. Ma has published more than 30 high impact peer-reviewed journal papers including Cell, Science and Nature Neuroscience. He has also served with substantial efforts in various broader research communities as peer reviewer, research advisor, committee member, conference organizer and NIH study section member/grant evaluator.
